Clearer client journeys
Reorganized a large body of services, research, people, and tools into responsive paths designed for clients, attorneys, regulators, and job candidates.
Full-Stack Web Designer, May 2021 — Aug 2023
My role
I joined SLCG to replace a fragile, difficult-to-update website with a system the firm could operate confidently. I owned the work from discovery and information architecture through visual design, development, data migration, launch, and ongoing iteration.
The scope expanded into a connected web ecosystem: the main SLCG site, the Potomac Analytics brand and website, The Investor's Advocate, and an interactive ARCOS opioid-data experience. Across them, I built publishing workflows, searchable databases, forms, visualizations, and reusable page systems.
I audited the existing site, interviewed company leadership, and mapped the content that clients and staff needed to find. The central problems were not cosmetic: broken legacy code, inconsistent navigation, inaccessible interactions, and an update process that depended on technical knowledge few employees had.
I tested page structures in paper sketches, Balsamiq, and Figma, then built a reusable PHP system instead of treating every page as a separate layout. I rewrote or repaired the firm's free tools, added validated contact and job-application flows, migrated more than 650 blog posts, and created searchable, filterable interfaces backed by MySQL.
The same system supported new writing, employee profiles, research, videos, databases, and service content while giving each format a clear and consistent presentation.
I worked directly with company principals through review and launch, migrated production data, configured hosting and DNS, and wrote redirects that preserved established links while introducing cleaner URLs and HTTPS. After launch, I used analytics and site audits to prioritize bugs, search improvements, and content refinements.
I also reduced the operational burden: browser-based workflows, documentation, and training made routine publishing possible without editing code.
Reorganized a large body of services, research, people, and tools into responsive paths designed for clients, attorneys, regulators, and job candidates.
Delivered site search, filterable databases, lead and application forms, and repaired research tools within one coherent system.
Created reusable layouts and a clearer brand presentation across long-form research, service pages, profiles, databases, and editorial content.
Moved recurring updates into browser-based workflows and supplied training materials so staff could publish without developer intervention.
When SLCG's founders launched Potomac Analytics, I translated interviews, market research, and the new firm's positioning into a visual identity. I explored 15 logo directions, tested color and typography systems with the team, and carried the selected direction into brand guidelines, stationery, documents, and the website.
I reused proven structural and publishing patterns from SLCG while giving the new firm a distinct visual voice. That let me spend less time rebuilding foundations and more time shaping service content, team and careers pages, and a searchable FINRA broker and firm database that gave the new site immediate practical value.
I prepared the site for search discovery, accessibility, and responsive use before its March 2022 launch, then refined both company sites with feedback from principals, clients, and employees. Lessons moved in both directions: improvements developed for Potomac Analytics also strengthened SLCG's shared systems.
